Pencil Farming

When you are at a loss for words, just pick a few and then you’ll be alright.

Since we are deep into a drought year, until the next rains fall, we are re-purposing many of our garden beds and are taking up waterless “dry farming.” Even when water is not scarce, dry farming tomatoes is a method used to force the plants to send their roots deeper into the soil to seek out moisture, resulting in smaller richer fruits. So too with dry farming pencils, rows of pencils are planted to mitigate the problem of a writing/ drawing dry spell.
